  1. Short:    .MID of Galynin Piano Concerto finale

  6.    This is the finale of the Piano Concerto of German Galynin,
  7. a pupil of Shostakovich. Unfortunately, Galynin died at the
  8. age of 44, reportedly a victim of Soviet repression.

  10.    The concerto is much in the style of Shostakovich's Concertos.
  11. This is a very infectious piece, and here's how to set it up:

  13.    The sequence presupposes you have a Proteus 2. If you have the
  14. .MID version you do not need to transpose any tracks. The track
  15. names merely reflect the key in which the instrument plays.
  16.  
  17.    I've done some track-sharing as follows: the trumpets and muted
  18. trumpets share a track.  An extra track near the end for trumpets
  19. shares a track with the percussion track.  Cellos and basses share
  20. tracks with their pizzicato counterparts.  In all cases, program
  21. changes in the tracks switche between programs, so if you don't
  22. have a Proteus 2, you may have some work to do, but you can tell
  23. where to expect them by viewing where the music switches from one
  24. to the other. In addition to the above, I have used the Proteus 2
  25. Marcato 1 program to simulate a col legno effect required by the
  26. score in bars 135-143.

  28.    I use a Korg P3 on a separate MIDI out for the piano. If you do
  29. not have a multi-port MIDI setup, simply combine two tracks using
  30. different MIDI channels to free up a track for the piano. Obvious
  31. choices are the violins and violas.
